About Balanced Women's Wellness
At Balanced Women’s Wellness, I believe every woman deserves healthcare that is evidence-based, compassionate, and individualized.
My practice is dedicated exclusively to women’s health, with a focus on perimenopause, menopause, hormone therapy, medical weight loss, PCOS, breast cancer survivorship, and preventive wellness. Through convenient telehealth appointments across Connecticut, I provide comprehensive care that allows women to receive expert treatment from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
My goal is not simply to prescribe medications. It’s to understand your symptoms, identify the underlying causes, and develop a customized treatment plan that helps you feel your best. Whether you’re struggling with hot flashes, weight gain, fatigue, brain fog, low libido, irregular periods, or simply know something isn’t right, I take the time to listen and create a plan that fits your unique needs and goals.
I believe that women deserve appointments where they feel heard, supported, and educated—not rushed.
Meet Tanya Smith, CNM, MSN, MSCP
I’m Tanya Smith, founder of Balanced Women’s Wellness.
I began my career as a Certified Nurse-Midwife, caring for women through pregnancy and childbirth. As my career evolved, I became increasingly passionate about helping women navigate the often-overlooked challenges of perimenopause and menopause. I recognized that many women were being told their symptoms were simply a normal part of aging, leaving them frustrated, confused, and without answers.
That realization inspired me to dedicate my practice exclusively to caring for women during the menopause transition and beyond.
Today, I combine my experience as a Certified Nurse-Midwife with advanced training as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP), along with additional certifications innutrition coaching, women’s hormone therapy, and caring for women in menopause after breast cancer. My approach integrates medical expertise with nutrition, exercise, lifestyle medicine, and preventive care to help women improve not only how they feel today, but also their long-term health.
Why This Work
Matters to Me
Women’s health isn’t just my profession—it’s personal.
Like many women, I entered perimenopause experiencing changes in my body, energy, mood, and overall sense of well-being. I also experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to sort through conflicting information about hormones, nutrition, weight, exercise, and what we’re simply expected to accept as part of getting older.
My own experience changed the way I approach women’s health. With evidence-based hormone therapy, intentional nutrition, strength training, and sustainable lifestyle changes, I became stronger and healthier in my 40s than I had been earlier in my life. At 47, I challenged myself even further and competed in—and won—an NPC Bikini competition.
I don’t expect my patients to have the same goals I did. The point isn’t a competition, a number on the scale, or looking a certain way. It’s knowing that midlife doesn’t have to mean accepting that you will feel progressively worse. My goal is to help women understand what’s happening in their bodies, identify the treatments and lifestyle changes that can actually make a difference, and build a plan that supports their health now and for the decades ahead
“My personal health journey taught me firsthand how transformative evidence-based nutrition, strength training, hormone optimization, and sustainable lifestyle changes can be during midlife.”
My Philosophy
Healthcare should be a partnership.
I believe the best medical care happens when patients understand their options and are empowered to make informed decisions about their health. Rather than applying the same treatment to every patient, I take time to understand your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and personal goals before developing a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
Some women benefit from hormone therapy. Others are better served with non-hormonal treatments, nutrition counseling, exercise strategies, or medical weight loss. Most benefit from a thoughtful combination of approaches designed specifically for them.
My commitment is to provide evidence-based recommendations, honest conversations, and compassionate care so you can feel confident about every step of your healthcare journey.
